We’re Hiring: Temporary Paralegal & Administrator

Cultural Heritage Partners, PLLC (CHP) is a mission-driven law, policy, and strategy firm with offices in Richmond, VA, Washington, D.C., New York, NY, and London, England. CHP offers a full array of professional services to tribes, NGOs, governments, and private sector clients who have cultural preservation and growth as part of their mission.

CHP seeks a temporary paralegal to assist with filings and administrative duties while a team member is on maternity leave. This position will support the firm’s Preservation Practice, working primarily on federal law matters and in close collaboration with the Partner managing this practice area.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Manage the calendaring of filing and other deadlines related to consultations and litigation
  • Assist with preparing and filing documents for federal litigation cases
  • Assist with identifying applicable local rules for federal courts
  • Coordinate a calendar of appointments – helping schedule, reschedule, and coordinate details for meetings
  • Keep the team informed of upcoming meetings, responsibilities, and deadlines
  • Update matter timelines and files
  • Conduct online research on a variety of topics, including those of a sensitive and/or confidential nature
  • Properly prepare, manage, and store documents
  • Compose and prepare draft correspondence (limited)
  • Arrange travel plans, itineraries, and agendas
  • Complete monthly expense reports

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in federal court litigation
  • Experience with electronic document management
  • Experience with the PACER filing system used by federal courts
  • Excellent time management, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented (please include our Richmond office address on your cover letter)
  • Honest, dependable, and able to safeguard sensitive information
  • A true team player, who is resourceful and extremely effective independently
  • Able to adapt to change and comfortable with an often-fluctuating task list each day
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and Adobe Acrobat. Knowledge of Clio and Basecamp is a plus

 

This is a full-time position with some flexibility regarding when the hours are worked. The ideal start date is June 10 and the assignment runs for roughly four months. The pay is $30 per hour. The person in this role can work remotely (Eastern time zone preferred) or in our office in Richmond, Virginia.
